SENIOR RELIABILITY ENGINEER

Summary
Assists the Plant Engineering Department to maintain, design, and recommend all types of
rotating equipment, systems and parts which will provide highest environmental friendly, safety,
reliability, operability and efficiency for refinery service in the most cost effective way.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following. review, update and/or establish
new/existing rotating equipment by engineering standards and purchase specifications.

Capability to provide technical assistance with regard to routine maintenance and major overhauls
of refinery rotating equipment.

Participate in the preparation of repair and maintenance procedures and standards.

Develop and acquire technical expertise in the areas of re-rating, troubleshooting, materials of
construction and operability of rotating equipment.

Assist in the technical direction and design input for process and installation design of rotating
equipment.

Work as directed in the areas of lubrication, mechanical seals and systems, vibration analysis and
machine monitoring.

Work on initial start-up and operation of major refinery equipment.

Become the technical resource for all rotating equipment in a refinery.

Develop ability to create and administer preventative maintenance program for all refinery
rotating equipment.

Develop the ability to select rotating equipment for the application based on life cost analysis.

Perform other duties as needed or directed, including performing Root Cause Failure Analysis,
Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) for rotating equipment, present “One Point Lessons” and
support Plant Engineering Department as required.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; and five to ten years related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
